ELMNT IR today announced that Adam Plotnik, MD, FSIR, has joined the organization as an interventional radiologist, where he will lead the growth of the organization’s vascular and venous intervention program while expanding access to advanced, minimally invasive care across Southern California.
Dr. Plotnik brings nationally recognized expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), venous disease, and other complex vascular conditions. In addition to providing comprehensive vascular interventions, he will work closely with referring physicians throughout the region to continue ELMNT IR’s commitment to building collaborative care pathways and expand patient access to these specialized procedures in the outpatient setting.
He also has extensive experience in prostate artery embolization (PAE), uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), and interventional oncology, with research interests that include image-guided cancer therapies, particularly Y-90 radioembolization.

Dr. Plotnik is an Associate Professor of Interventional Radiology at UCLA Medical Center and most recently served as Chair of Diagnostic Services and Medical Director of Interventional Radiology at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in Australia before completing a master’s degree in Diagnostic Imaging, graduating with distinction from the University of Oxford. Following his radiology residency, he completed fellowships in Diagnostic Cardiovascular Imaging and Interventional Radiology at UCLA, where he subsequently joined the faculty.
Dr. Plotnik has been awarded FSIR (Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology)—one of the highest honors bestowed by the Society of Interventional Radiology and the organization’s ultimate recognition of professional achievement and leadership within the specialty.
